Recently, as I was going through my son’s backpack, I came across the 12 rules above while sifting through the spelling and math test results, as well as the fall projects.

If you are a parent, you know the struggle of ensuring your child is being raised to understand these 12 simple rules of being a good human.

It’s so simple.

Play fair.
Be kind.
Be honest.
Have fun.
Work hard.
Be there.
Be nice.
Play hard.
Do not sit and watch.
Be respectful.

12 simple rules to live by.

Yet, especially now, it seems so hard for some to follow.

The older I get and the longer I parent, I realize how trivial the 999,999,999 other things in life are without these 12 rules.

You can have everything, but if you don’t have these principles, you have nothing.

I hope you join me in printing this list and keeping it close. It’s to remind ourselves that it is not what we get in life that defines our success, but it’s how we get it that matters.
